New Year's Resolutions| Expectations VS Reality
Tis the season to set impossible goals, FA LA LALA LA LALA
LA LAAA! Haha
It’s that time of year again guys! Everyone makes New Year’s
Resolutions, whether it’s one or twenty one somehow we don’t follow through
with them. I thought it would be a fun idea to list the 5 types of people that
people want to become based on their NYR.
#1. The Fitness Freak
This person simply just wants to work out more.
Expectation; “in the new year I’m going to work out every
day. I’m going to run every morning and hit the gym every night. Yeah! I CAN DO
THIS!”
Reality; Its January 1st and you wake up with a
hangover from the New Year’s party you went to the night before. “Ugh, I have a
headache! I’m sleeping in I’ll start tomorrow” tomorrow comes and you start and
keep it going for about two weeks, then you realize how time consuming and exhausting
it is so you stop all together.
My solution; Start small. Don’t give yourself too much work
there’s only 24 hours in a day and only 16 of those hours are spent awake. Maybe
going jogging every other morning and hit the gym on your off days may suffice.
#2 The Healthitarian
This person wants to stop eating “unhealthy” foods all
together.
Expectation; “Come January 1st I’m throwing out
everything and going to whole foods, I’m going to count calories too”
Reality; You go through that pantry and start throwing
things away until you run into a bag of cookies you forgot was in there and
decide you can’t part with those kind of cookies, so your whole diet idea
starts adjusting until its no longer a diet and you forget about the whole
calories thing all together.
My solution; Cut sugars for now and work your way up. Quit drinking
soda/pop, it will do wonders.
#3 New Year, New Me
I say this every year! Lol This person wants to change
everything about themselves.
Expectations; “I’m going to go shopping, get a new wardrobe,
change my hair and be a better person”
Reality; you get 4 new outfits and a haircut…. That’s it.
My solution; If you really want to be different next year
then start from the inside and work your way out. If you want to better
yourself then change your surroundings, from redecorating to changing the group
of people you surround yourself with. A little change can do everyone some good.
#4 The Addict Breaker
This person wants to quit an addiction cold turkey.
Expectation; “I’m just going to stop, I’m just going to stop
all together”
Reality you try to stop but get tempted and end up saying “forget
it!”
My solution; Don’t quit cold turkey. Give yourself limits
and follow through because if you really want to break an addiction, then the
will power is there.
#5 The Deep Debter
This person wants to get out of debt.
Expectation; “I’m going to save money and pay off my debt. I’ll
put $300 in my savings every month and by June I should have enough to pay off everything."
Reality; June comes and all you have in your savings is $300….
You started but never finished.
My solution; …. Honestly, I’m working on that myself so that’s
a hard one even for me. How I plan to fix this problem is not making the amount
of money to save so big and not making the time frame so small. Be smart and
budget according to what you have left after paying bills.
In conclusion, choose NYR’s wisely!
Well that’s all I have to offer you guys today, from my
personal experience to yours!
Much Love
